about

Partly stemming from CARR’s own background in film, ’I’m Just Bored’ flirts between melodrama, camp and the macabre. “We’re all gonna die anyway,” she affirms, an ethos that informs both her sonic adventurousness as well as her fixation on both attachment and loss. In CARR’s world, there’s always been a fascination bordering on reverence with the “bad”: her characters are chain smoking cigarettes, they’re the first one to get killed off in the scary movie, she tells them to go die and potentially means it. In recent years pop music has come to be defined by the dark side of emotional resonance, and the relatability that comes with owning up to your flaws. There can be an inherent obligation as an artist to give more of yourself than just the music, but within the diaristic seven tracks of the EP it’s easy to see CARR as simply a conversational best friend who can make you laugh at the most unexpected moments. She’s been there too, and you’re figuring it out together.
